Scholarship applications are expected to include a short essay (no more than 1000 words).  Essays are expected to represent the applicant and why he or she is looking to pursue a study in STEM.  Winners are determined by a vote of a panel of judges that are looking for the applicant that demonstrates the most passion for their chosen field of study.
